Northside Elementary held our annual Title I Family STEAM Night on October 15, bringing students, families, staff, and community partners together for an exciting evening of hands-on learning and exploration. Families participated in math games, science experiments, art projects, block-building engineering challenges, Chomp Saw masks, a giant planetarium, and so much more!

The highlight of the evening was Jolene, a life-size juvenile whale! Students and their families had the unforgettable opportunity to see Jolene up close and even go inside the enormous whale in our gym.

One of the greatest treasures of STEAM Night is giving families the opportunity to learn together by doing. Whether solving a challenge, creating art, experimenting with science, building something new, or discovering more about the world around them, children learn so much when we explore together. These shared experiences encourage curiosity, conversation, problem-solving, and creativity while also strengthening the connection between our families, curriculum standards, and our school as a whole.

An event this large truly takes a team!  We are incredibly grateful to the ACCENT team at FSU and our District Instructional Technology team for volunteering their time and helping us bring the planetarium, Jolene, and Chomp Saws to our families.

A very special thank you goes to all of the Northside staff members who worked together to make STEAM Night possible. We also want to recognize our wonderful Northside K-Kids and SGA student leaders, who helped throughout the event. Our SGA even worked alongside students from our autism class to create signs for the different stations, making STEAM Night a true schoolwide effort.

Our annual STEAM Night is about much more than individual activities. It is a night for families to create, discover, experiment, problem-solve, and learn side by side. We treasure the opportunity to welcome our families into Northside and give them meaningful experiences they can share with their children. When families and schools learn together, we strengthen not only our students' education, but our entire Northside community.
