Arts in Our Schools Month includes Youth Art Month and Theatre in our Schools Month. Northside is always busy in the arts, but we wanted to highlight some of the exciting things happening in our arts programs this spring!

  • Northside received $5,000 in grant funds from the Bay Education Foundation this school year for the arts. These funds helped purchase supplies for specialized projects in the art room and helped pay for the music, scripts, and costumes for Seussical the Musical. Ms. M&M's goals in getting these grants were focused on allowing all students opportunities to do unique art projects this school year!

  • The Paul Brent 4th Grade Art Show was on display in February at the Center for the Arts featuring the Nassau Grouper Endangered Animal artwork of twelve Northside 4th graders. This annual art contest is sponsored by internationally recognized local artist Paul Brent each year and is a special treat for our 4th graders. In the past several years Northside has had winners for best in show overall and best school overall at this show.

  • Our annual Poster design and coloring contest for the spring carnival at Northside is kicking off now. Information from PTO will be shared about how to enter and all Northside Students are encouraged to participate. Winners receive tickets for carnival activities!

  • The Best of Bay Art Show will be on display April 2-25 at the Center for the Arts featuring artwork from all grade levels at Northside along with artwork for across Bay District Schools. This show features the best of the best from each school's art program and is an exciting recognition.

  • Northside’s Seussical the musical performances are coming May 20 at 3pm & 5pm in the cafeteria at Northside. Students in SGA and during art are busy working on decorations, sets, props, and costumes for the show. The cast is already deep into rehearsals to make this an amazing performance and we are proud that Northside allows opportunities to sing, dance, act, help with technical roles, and perform to all students who are interested!

  • Northside students had artwork on display at several events this spring including on the walls of the Bay District School's Nelson Building District Office in January and February, at Sacred Heart Hospital in February, and at the Bay Education Foundation's Arts Alive event in March.
